Game Meat and Fowl

Typical meal eaten in quebec

A typical meal eaten in quebec is a poutine. it is usually eaten for lunch and sometimes dinner and it is french fries with melted cheese curds and gravy. It is really good.

Interesting Fact

One fun tradition they had was the kissing ball -- a ring of evergreen boughs with candles, apples and nuts hung in doorway. Although it really represented the return of light after the winter solstice, young men used this opportunity to steal a kiss from any single lady standing under it, hence the name of kissing ball.

Meal schedule

Most canadians skip breakfast and have a rushed dinner during the working week. On the weekends they eat breakfast when  they wake up like us and have a brunch around noon and lunch at 4:00p.m. and have dinner around 7:00p.m.

Christmas in Canada

Christmas usually consisted of opening presents, going to church, then coming home to a feast of la tourtiere, a meat pie and various other dishes, topping off the meal was the Yule log, a chocolate cake in the shape of a log to symbolize the birch log burned in the fireplace on reveillon before the French came to Canada. Dinner consisted of roast goose or beef and plum pudding.

Foods we eat in America

we started eating french influenced food from Canada in America a long time ago. Bakery foods like croissants came from Canada. wine like Chablis and Champagne are also from there. A lot of Gourmet foods or high classed foods come from the french influence from things like
pâté de foie gras (fattened goose and other bird livers) to black truffles.

Flavor principles

Quebec is not really that different when is comes to sauces and seasonings. They use their seasoning and sauces in a different way. they are really famous for their maple syrup its better than our syrup
